Rosebud-Lott held their first ever powerlifting invitational this past Saturday at RL. The Cougar powerlifting team walked away with first place team finishes on both the boys and girls side.
"I feel like ours ran as smooth as I could have prepared for with it being the first meet I have ever put together and the first meet that any of the workers have run," said Head Coach Daniel Gilmore. "I am very proud of how well the table workers and spotters/loaders did. The success of the meet is ultimately based on the volunteers that show up and how well they respond to being told what to do by the judges."
Individual lifters pulled RL to the overall win. Of the many weight classes represented on Saturday, Rosebud-Lott won most of them, even though it was the first meet for several team members.
"I feel like we learned a lot on Saturday. For a lot of the lifters it was their first meet that they have ever been to and they were able to be very independent at the meet because of the hours they put in at practice over the last two months," said Gilmore. "Coach G and I were very busy during the day so the team had to basically run itself. To be able to walk away with as many team points as we did, with as many first timers as we had, is a huge testament to the dedication that they show day in and day out."
