Carson Kahlig catches a pass during the Cougar's win over Florence.

Rosebud-Lott took a commanding lead against the Florence Buffaloes and never looked back, trampling Florence 42-0 in their season home opener last Friday night at Cougar Stadium.

"I was very proud of the way our boys came out early and jumped on them early," said Head Coach Brandon Hicks.

The Cougars started the game with large plays between sophomore quarterback Pryce Rabroker and senior wide receiver Carson Kahlig that ended in the first touchdown of the game at 10 minutes left in the first quarter. The Buffaloes received the kickoff but couldn't get past the Cougar defense and turned the ball back over to the Cougars.

Florence was unable to hold back the Cougar offense with catches made by junior receiver Bo McGinniss and yards gained by freshman running back Zaylon Wells.

"We had a few mistakes on offense, but we were able to clean them up and just drive down the field," said McGinniss.

The first quarter showcased the Cougar offense, scoring 28 of the total 42 points of the game. Florence was able to put up a block on the Cougar's offense during the second and third quarters of the game, but were unable put a complete stop to the Cougar's scoring drives. RL was able to put the icing on the cake during the fourth quarter with one more touchdown to cap off the game.

"We played really well as a team, very disciplined," said Rabroker. "The younger guys stepped up and did their part when they should."

Next, the Cougars will face the Thrall Tigers, whose quarterback is known for his ability to throw and run the ball for yards.

"We are gonna have to make sure we spot him and keep him contained," said Hicks. "He is going to make plays but we can't just lay down. We go to make sure we keep fighting."

The Cougars will travel to Thrall Friday night for the game that begins at 7:30pm. To purchase tickets, you must go online to the Thrall ISD website.
