About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from George West High School in George West, TX.  After completion of high school, I attended Southwest Texas State University on a basketball scholarship.  After completing my bachelor’s degree in 1980, I completed master’s degrees in 1981 and 1987 in Education and then completed my doctorate degree from Texas A&M University in 1996.  I also have 18 graduate hours from Stephen F. Austin ISD in the area of U.S. History.

Professional Development:

At one point of my career, I was a certified trainer for Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of HIghly Effective People, Principles of Leadership, and What Matters Most.  I also was a certified trainer for Capturing Kids’ Hearts, Leadership Blueprint and Organzationial Blueprint.  I am currently a certified trainer for Connect for Leaders and Aluha for dyslexia.

Current Position:

I joined Rosebud-Lott ISD as Superintendent of Schools on June 8, 2020.

Previous Position:

My first teaching experience was in Athens, TX at Trinity Valley Community College as a history teacher and basketball coach.  I returned to my alma-mater and coached basketball at Southwest Texas State for eleven years.  After getting my second master’s degree, I became a public school administrator in Giddings ISD, followed by stints in Somerville ISD, Dripping Springs ISD and Belton ISD where I was the Deputy Superintendent for four years.  I then left to manage the education divisiono of The Flippen Group.  I was the principal responsible for getting Capturing Kids” Hearts into schools which is a product of The Flippen Group.  I worked in all but 5 states in the US as a consultant and worked in India and Zambia as a consultant.  I also served in the 44,000 student districts of Killeen ISD and Corpus Christi ISD.  


 

Family Information:

I was married in 1988 to Bethany Bohuslav and we have three children, Katelyn Lakey (Brandon), Hailey Marek (Brett) and Preston Rosebrock.  We have four beautiful grand children, Reese, Wade and Jack Marek and Hallie Lakey.  

We own a ranch in Durango and raise registered longhorns along with an assortment of other animals including llamas, miniature donkeys and miniature horses.  

Personal Information:

Bethany and I Iove to antique and frequent flea markets when we can find the time.  We also love to travel and try to go to Europe every two years.  Family time is also very important to us and we host family events at our ranch or go to Corpus to spend time with Bethany’s mom.  I also like to garden and many different nurseries across the state get my money, but particularly Green Gate in Seguin, TX.
